REFLECTING LIGHT WITH EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE
MY GIRL DIAMOND
- A SIGNATURE SHIMANSKY CUT
Three years - that’s how long it took Yair Shimansky to develop the My Girl diamond, the world’s first square-cut diamond with a diamond-shaped table. Its essence is its ability to reflect light with every move you make.
Only a select number of rough diamonds are suitable to become a My Girl diamond, and up to half the rough stone is sacrificed to create this mesmerising cut. Expertly polished to deliver the perfect balance of fire, brilliance and scintillation, the Shimansky My Girl diamond captures the heart forever.
A TRUE HEARTS AND ARROWS DIAMOND
EIGHT HEARTS (HEARTS AND ARROWS) DIAMOND
Taking three times longer to polish and shaped by only one in a thousand diamond polishers, the Shimansky eight hearts diamond displays a perfect eight heart pattern when viewed from the bottom and a perfect eight arrow star when viewed from the top.
The attention to detail and superior craftsmanship that this diamond cut demands results in perfect proportions and symmetry that reflects fire, brilliance and scintillation at their best.
CUSHION CUT DIAMOND
The shape of the cushion cut diamond is characterised by soft edges and rounded corners, resembling a cushion or pillow. This type of diamond cut has been popular since the first diamond cuts were developed.
Cushion cut diamonds range from a rounded square shape to a more rectangular shape. If you prefer the squarer shape, look for a length-to-width ratio of 1.05 to 1.10:1. For a more rectangular shape, look for length-to-width ratio of greater than 1.15:1.
OVAL SHAPED DIAMOND
An oval diamond is an elongated version of the round brilliant diamond. If well proportioned, this beautiful cut gives great brilliance, fire and scintillation. It is generally polished with 56 facets. Oval diamonds are also very popular as their length can accentuate long, slender fingers.
The oval shape has a larger surface area than a round brilliant diamond of the same carat weight and is an excellent choice for those more focused on size. The ideal length-to-width ratio is 1.5:1 but ranges from 1.33:1 to 1.66:1 which is widely acceptable.
ROUND BRILLIANT CUT DIAMOND
Round brilliant cut diamonds offer timeless beauty. Polished with 57 facets to the ideal proportion and symmetry, round brilliant cut diamonds radiate with brilliance and sparkle. For over a century, diamond cutters and master craftsmen have perfected the round cut using advanced theories of light behaviour, optic dispersion and geometry.
When purchasing a round brilliant cut diamond, look for a cut grade of excellent or very good as a measure of its brilliance.
MARQUISE SHAPED DIAMOND
The pear shape is a unique hybrid cut, shaped like a tear drop and combining the best of the marquise and round brilliant cut. Well proportioned, it gives a depth of scintillation to the point of the diamond.
Pear shapes are extremely popular in rings, earrings and pendants. Pear shapes are typically polished with 58 facets, and the optimal length-to-width ratio is between 1.50 and 1.75:1.
